Silvia Villacañas is the Director of Strategic Planning for Sustainable Urban Development at the City of Madrid.
She is fully convinced about the need for an integrated urban regeneration of the city by the implementation of a Strategic Plan focused on the most vulnerable areas of the city. She is in charge of the development of this plan (Plan Madre: Madrid Regeneration Plan) in the city of Madrid, that includes different actions in the fields of urban planning, urban renewal, public space, mobility and environment. Silvia and her team are very excited about the first outcomings of these plans with a great impact on the city. The priority of her work is to increase the quality of life of the population of the city, to reduce the social and economic inequality, providing more innovative projects, with neighborhood participation and addressing environmental challenges.
