Fernando Medina has been Mayor of Lisbon since 2015. Amongst his core topics are urban mobility and citizen engagement: He advocates investments in the city’s public transportation and aims to reduce cars in Lisbon’s city center. This goes hand in hand with intensifying Lisbon’s bus network and creating an extensive bike infrastructure.
Apart from that, Lisbon increased its green spaces by 20% in little more than a decade and has a biodiversity strategy as part of its climate strategy. In the center of attention are the citizens themselves: Medina wants to engage every citizen and work together personally and professionally to tackle climate change successfully.
